text is a text tells how to do something.
- Social function
To
describe how something is accomplished through a sequence of actions
or steps.
- Generic structure
- The goal of the activity
- Materials needed to achieve the goal ( not required for all procedural texts )
- Steps to accomplish the goal ( a series of steps oriented to achieving the goal )
- The language features :
- Simple present tense
- Imperative sentence
- Temporal conjunctions ( first, second, then, finally, etc )
Note
: procedure text sometimes only consists of goal and steps.\
